download (1)Tomorrow night, the attention of the boxing world will shift to Santa Monica, California, where Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam will face Curtis ‘Showtime’ Stevens in an IBF middleweight title eliminator. The fight will be broadcast live on ESPN 2. Leading up to the fight, ThaBoxingVoice.com spoke with the trainer of Curtis Stevens, Andre Rozier.

Rozier assured us that we will see the best version of  Stevens Wednesday night. “He is in great shape”, the trainer told us. He later continued, “Curtis is lightning quick at the moment and his punching power is unbelievable again. He is ready.”

Stevens is coming off an unsatisfying performance against Tureano Johson. We asked Rozier what went wrong that night. “Honestly, I think that Curtis took Tureano a little bit lightly, and in doing so, it caused him to not put as much pressure on his opponents as we wanted,” Rozier answered.

The fight will be promoted by Michael King, one of the owners of King World Productions, who produced the Oprah Winfrey Show for 15 years and still produces Dr. Phil. King promised a new way of promoting in boxing. We asked Rozier about his experiences so far.

“We haven’t done anything yet. We haven’t even been to a press conference. When the press conference has taken place, I can give you a better assessment as to whether this guy [Michael King] is really trying to bring some new light to the show.”

But isn’t the trainer surprised by the lack of promoting so far?

“Well, we expected something too. But it has been so quiet. Maybe he [Michael King] is a little concerned about the outcome of the event. So he might not want many people to know what is going on,” the trainer jokingly said.
