Abel SanchezStepping away from the usual Golovkin versus who talk, Abel Sanchez did a radio interview with On The Ropes Boxing.

In the segment, a question was posed as to who Sanchez would have loved to work with in his career. Aside from the guys he is working with currently, two names stuck out. The first one was Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

“I would say Floyd Mayweather Jr. would be a coach’s dream because of his work ethic,” stated the trainer of Gennady Golovkin. “I don’t particularly like the way he goes about his fights because I think he has a lot more talent than that.”

The second name was a fighter who is picking up steam and could be on many pound-for-pound lists in years to come.

“There is a young man named Vasyl Lomachenko at featherweight who I think will go very far,” Sanchez said. “I think he will do well because of his work ethic and how hard his father drives him. Those are the kind of guys I like to work with because they are willing to put the work in to be great. Not just successful, great! In this business, there are only so many spots for the great ones.”

Golovkin has made news this week by calling out Andre Ward and saying he has lost respect for him as a man. Golovkin was also on TMZ saying that his dream fight would be against Mayweather. Sanchez is a fan of Mayweather, but only wishes he was more aggressive.

“I think his talent is limitless. I think he is such a talented fighter that if he put in a bit more effort, he could be getting those guys out, a little more aggressive I should say. But he is limitless as far as talent is concerned. Obviously you have to consider his age too; maybe that is why he’s not got as much aggression as he used to in the past. But he is such an unbelievable fighter, such a smart fighter.”
