Saunders EubankIt looks like the rematch between Billy Joe Saunders (21-0, 11KO’s) and Chris Eubank Jr. (19-1, 14 KO’s) is going to take place a lot earlier then initially assumed. Theboxingobserver.com reports that June 27 will be the date for the highly anticipated rematch, which will take place at Upton Park in London, England.

Both fighters were supposed to fight on a Boxnation card upcoming Saturday against fighters later to be announced. When the two were scrapped of the card last week, heavy rumors about the rematch have been floating around ever since.

Since winning the first fight between the two rivals in November last year, Saunders has been in line to fight Irish Andy Lee for his WBO version of the middleweight championship. He was paid to step aside so that Lee could take a lucrative fight with Peter Quillin last month, which ended in a draw. Now it seems the fight will be postponed again because Lee suffered an injury in that fight.

The rematch between Saunders and Eubank Jr. will be for the ‘interim’ WBO title. The winner of the fight is assured to fight Lee later this year for the real title.

Frank Warren is expected to make an official announcement in the next 24 hours.
