As reported on Thaboxingvoice.com a few days ago, Amir Khan will fight Julio Diaz at a catchweight of 143lbs. Diaz was a guest on TBV’s radio show and announced his intent to fight the former junior welterweight titlist (http://thaboxingvoice.cogito24.com/julio-diaz-says-hes-signed-a-contract-to-fight-amir-khan-april-27th-at-143-lbs/10469).

It wasn’t known if Khan had fully committed to the contest, but he is officially a go for April 27th in the UK, most likely the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.  The bout will be televised by Showtime.

Richard Schaefer confirmed that the bout will be apart of a jam pack day on Showtime Sports which will air the Khan fight earlier in the day with the Garcia-Judah, Quillin Guerrero fight later in the evening live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Amir Khan will enter the ring coming off of his first win since losing two straight. After being defeated by Danny Garcia, Khan made the conscious decision to leave long time trainer Freddie Roach in favor for Andre Ward’s trainer Virgil Hunter. Khan’s 10th round stoppage over Carlos Molina in December of last year was his first outing under Hunter’s tutelage.

Diaz — the brother of Timothy Bradley’s trainer Joel Diaz — is coming off of a draw against Shawn Porter, before that Diaz had won 2 straight.
