According to Sharif Salim; manager of Seth Mitchell, while speaking with boxingscene.com, negotiations are underway for a heavyweight clash between Seth “Mayhem” Mitchell and Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola that could take place as early as the beginning of September.
Mitchell last fought in June when he was able to avenge his lone career loss to Jonathan Banks in a lackluster fight. Mitchell was dropped and wobbled in the fight answering the questions about his chin and his ability to take a punch from a legitimate opponent. However, Mitchell’s boxing skills have improved since the loss and he was able to hold on when necessary and prevent himself from being stopped.

In Arreola’s last fight he was dropped hard and was close to being stopped against the heavy handed Bermaine Stiverne. Arreola finished on his feet and fought back even though he was unable to regain his footing. “Even though he lost his last fight to Stiverne he is quite a capable opponent. (He is) Very Dangerous and he is indeed an entertaining fighter,” said Salim.

A win for either fighter would keep them relevant in hopes of fighting for a title but a loss would be more devastating for Arreola seeing as he has the stronger chin out of the two fighters and can move in for the kill more effectively out of the two. Should Mitchell lose then it could be just a learning experience against a veteran fighter but a devastating KO loss could make him think twice about continuing his career.
