April 30th will forever be a day that will Shakur Stevenson can look back on for several reasons. First, his engagement which happened live on TV and second, becoming a unified champion after handily defeating Oscar Valdez.

Stevenson controlled a majority of the fight but Valdez was game. We knew how tough Valdez was and he is in fact not a pushover. We also knew that Stevenson was a bright up and coming star but he became a super nova with his performance.

After the fight there were many fans looking to discredit not only Valdez but his trainer Eddy Reynoso. It’s the same exact thing that happened when Canelo fought and lost to Floyd Mayweather.

Stevenson has come to Valdez defense and wants fans to stop discrediting the former champion.

“Valdez defended his tittle at 126 about 6 times he moved up to 130 fought the ‘Boogeyman’ Berchelt for the title and beat him up then knocked him out,” stated Stevenson via social media. “Please stop discrediting him. He’s a hellavu fighter and champion and when his career is over he will go down in the history books.”

Stevenson continued, “30-0 23 Knockouts 6 title defenses a 2 weight division World Champion who took the risk in fighting one of the best talents in the sport of boxing no matter how much shit I talked y’all need to respect him cause he earned mine and didn’t come to lay down I was just the better man.”

Boxing fans can be brutal and will quickly discredit a fighter after a loss or a bad performance. If they do not like one person in your camp they will go after any and everybody associated with you but make excuses as to why you succeed to further discredit a fighter or his camp.
