“Showtime” Shawn Porter has been living the high life ever since winning his first ever world title a couple weeks ago against Devon Alexander. Since the win Porter has been keeping busy with all the media coverage he is receiving at home and he can definitely feel the love.

“We’ve hit a lot of different media, studio sessions, newspapers, the whole nine,” said Porter. “Being a champion has been great. It’s everything I thought it would be.”

For Porter, winning a title is a dream come true and it is an even bigger dream come true since none of Cleveland’s sports franchises are close to accomplishing the same feat.

“It means everything to me. I went to a nightclub last night to do an appearance and they put me on the mic. I told them I did something that the Cleveland Indians can’t do. The Browns haven’t been able to do, even the Cleveland Cavaliers been able to do which was bring home a world title so it makes me feel good to be able to give these people something to look forward to. Something to be proud of. So it’s been great.”

Porter has had a  stellar 2013. He realizes that winning a world title is not the end of the road but the beginning of a new journey in which he will have to continue to work hard because now he is amongst the top of the division and there will be other hungry fighters wanting to take what he has.

“It won’t be a problem. I love entertaining. I love every bit of what I am doing right now. I raise the bar every time. Every fight I raise the bar. I think anyone that watches me fight, they have seen me raise the bar being raised. They have seen me prove every fight so me winning this world championship, even though it was one of my goals; it’s not the end of my career I know that. It is just the beginning of a new chapter, a new season. And with that being said I know I still gotta grind. I still gotta work hard and I still have to do everything it takes to defend this championship and get some more.”
