It looks like Charles Martin and Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight title fight has found a home on American TV as Dan Rafael of ESPN reported that Showtime has picked up the liver coverage of the fight. Martin will defend his IBF title against the quickly moving UK fighter from Watford, Hertfordshire.
The Martin-Joshua fight will take place at the O2 Arena in Greenwich, London, the home of Joshua’s past three bouts on April 9th. The fight was announced as a sellout moments after going on sale and it is being perceived as one of the biggest fights of the year in the UK.
At just 15-0 with all of his wins coming by KO/TKO, Joshua will attempt to claim his first world title. Joshua is fresh off one of his biggest career wins to date when he stopped his amateur rival Dillian Whyte by 7th round TKO back in December.
Martin won the vacant IBF title this past January in a not so inspired outcome versus Vyacheslav Glazkov who suffered a right knee injury in the 3rd round of their championship bout.
The co-feature of the evening will be Lee Selby defending his IBF featherweight title against Eric Hunter of Philadelphia.
