Floyd MayweatherIs Errol Spence next in line to take the throne from Floyd Mayweather? That was the talk two weeks ago when Spence defeated Phil Lo Greco on the undercard of Adrien Broner versus Shawn Porter. Fitting enough was that Adrien Broner was the one hyping himself as the next Floyd Mayweather. But two losses later, and not many are seeing that except himself.

During the fight week activities, it seemed that Mayweather was attached to the young Spence. During the media workout, Mayweather said that Spence needed the TMT patch on his trunks.

After the fight while discussing possible opponents like Shawn Porter, Amir Khan, and Keith Thurman for his September date, Mayweather brushed them off and said those guys can fight Errol Spence on his undercard with Spence next to him.

It seems that Mayweather is grooming the young fighter into being the heir apparent. Ken Porter told ThaBoxingVoice.com that Spence gave Mayweather work in the gym and even made Adrien Broner cry. So, maybe Mayweather sees him as the next in line over others.

When the prospect was asked about fighting Porter, Thurman, or Khan in September, he was all for it.

“It’s really all the above like everybody mentioned,” Spence told ThaBoxingVoice.com “Amir Khan, Keith Thurman, and Shawn Porter, or anybody who going to get in the ring. Like Floyd said, he’ll vacate one of his titles for us to fight so why not?”

The exposure the fighter would receive for fighting on Mayweather’s undercard whether it is Pay-Per-View or on network television would be massive. Spence has the mentality of fighting the best right now and at such a young age, it’s refreshing.

“Why not fight on the biggest stage in boxing, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on a pay-per-view for Floyd Mayweather undercard as a co-main event. How big can it get? I’m not avoiding anybody; I’m not ducking anybody. I want to fight these young lions like myself.”
