Last year, Timothy Bradley made the promotional move from Gary Shaw Promotions to Top Rank Promotions. While he may have made the most money he’s ever made in one fight against Manny Pacquiao ($5 million plus), he’s been a victim of inactivity since then. ThaBoxingVoice had a chance to talk to his head trainer Joel Diaz regarding the move and inactivity.

Regarding the move to Top Rank:

I don’t get involved with it. When Tim signed with Cameron Dunkin, I didn’t even know. Some manager came up to me and told me. Tim deals with that himself. Signing with Top Rank, he did that himself. I don’t get into that stuff. It was a good move because he fought Manny Pacquiao but on the other side if he didn’t, he might be more active

His contract situation with Top Rank and Cameron Dunkin:

I don’t know when his contract is up with Top Rank to be honest. His managerial contract is until August or September of this year

    Regarding Bradley’s Activity This Year:

I would love to see Tim fight three times this year, minimum 2 fights; I’d like to see him fight in March, then June or July, and sometimes in November or December.

If there was any truth to the rumor Bob Arum put out that Bradley was in line for a Mayweather fight:

No, I’ve never heard anything of Mayweather with Bradley at all.

Exploring a fight with Brandon Rios or Mike Alvarado:

Tim Bradley even said why not Brandon Rios? They said no. So we go ok why not an Alvarado fight? So we were about to make an Alvarado deal, when they locked Alvarado and Rios again.

On dropping to 140 to face Rios:

Tim will make 140, but coming from a 7 month layoff to a 140 lb layoff, it’s not going to happen. If he fights at 147 in March, and want him at 140 in May, Tim will make 140. He will be active where with March he hasn’t been active in 7 months. We can make 140 with Tim no problem with activity. If we win this fight at 147 and if there’s better fights at 140, we’ll move down. . If the fight with Rios will happen in the future, we can make 140; he’ll be active and make the weight. So our best option after this is to wait for Brandon and Alvarado to fight again. Maybe we go down to 140 and fight those guys.

In a perfect boxing world, the opponents he’d love for Bradley:

In a perfect world, you got Devon Alexander but we already beat him. You have Floyd Mayweather, Danny Garcia, Lucas Matthysse, Marcos Maidana, Brandon Rios; all these are great fights and people want to see them but you won’t be able to see them because of the negotiations that won’t take place.
