Cotto-Miguel73With Canelo Alvarez moving on from Miguel Cotto and fighting James Kirkland, many people thought Miguel Cotto was waiting on Floyd Mayweather for a lucrative rematch. Last Friday Floyd Mayweather announced that he would be making the fight with Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd. So many people feel that it leaves Miguel Cotto without a big fight and Cotto may have overplayed his hands.

But his advisor says Miguel Cotto is as happy as any other boxing fan that the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao has been finalized, and the world gets what they’ve been waiting for.

“We couldn’t be happier,” Gabriel Peñagarícano told El Vocero. “It’s something that’s great for the sport, Like I told you from the first day we weren’t surprised that it would happen.”

So where does that leave Miguel Cotto ? and how do Mayweather and Pacquiao effect Cotto’s next move?

“The announcement of this fight has no bearing on what Miguel Cotto does next,” explained Peñagarícano. “In the near future, we should finalize what’s next for Miguel Cotto. His next fight will be in late May or early June like I told everyone before.”

What Options are left for Cotto? Rumors of Erislandy Lara and Timothy Bradley as possible Cotto’s foes hasn’t been received well by the fans.
The plans are for May and May isn’t too far away to wait for the future Hall of Famer.
