Celebrities At The Los Angeles Lakers GameIt seems like we’re closer than we’ve ever been to a possible Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight than ever before. While much of the talk has come from Pacquiao’s side when it comes to terms being agreed to, yesterday at the NBC Sports Press Conference, a member from Team Haymon who represents Mayweather also said the fight is close.

Sam Watson, whose known as the face of the Haymon regime chimed in from Mayweather’s side.

“They’re putting it together now,” Watson said to The Guardian. “They’re going to do a Showtime-HBO [joint pay-per-view] like they did last time with Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson. They’re working on the monies now and everything they’ve got to work on to make it happen. I can’t wait. It’s going to be huge.”

HBO and Showtime were rumored to have been in talks yesterday and reconvened today with another meeting with many insiders believing that once that hurdle is cleared, the fight everyone has wanted will finally get done.

Haymon who is never accessible held a press conference at the NBC Studios to announce the details of the NBC Deal. Although he was not present at the press conference, he had boxing fans buzzing with the announcement of boxing returning to network television on NBC in primetime.

Haymon was there according to Watson, even if in the shadow.

“He’s here, but you don’t see him,” Watson said. Well boxing fans will applaud him even more should Mayweather-Pacquiao be delivered this year.
