Thawing in The Cold War?

Boxing fans may soon appreciate top level boxing that is undivided by promotion companies.  In an interview, Oscar De La Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions, says he’s been in communication with Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, to finally bring down the Berlin Wall that has impeded their cooperation and has consequently caused boxing fans so many great fights.

“I’ve extended the olive branch, for the good of the sport, for the good of Golden Boy Promotions, for the good of Top Rank, and for the fans.” The ten time, six division champion entices fight fans with a new found air of enlightenment and continues to work as a fight fan to promote the best fights possible.

“This is what has to be done.”  Oscar De La Hoya, explains, “We’re making the cordial introduction again.” Oscar, noticeably open about his faith, has embraced a new found outlook on life and wants to make amends with those around him. “Why not work together? Let the past be the past. That’s what we must do.” Oscar exclaims, exciting fight fans around the world. “Let’s make these fights happen; the fans deserve it. The fans want to see these fights. This is what we must do. I’m calling Bob Arum.”

If the ‘Cold War’ comes to an end boxing fans around the world could soon see fights like, Pacquaio vs. Mayweather, Ruslan Provodnikov vs. Danny Garcia, Pacquiao vs. Canelo Alvarez, Abner Mares vs. Mikey Garcia, Omar Figueroa vs. Abner Mares, Leo Santa Cruz vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux, Nonito Donaire vs. Leo Santa Cruz, Lucas Matthysse vs. Brandon Rios, Alvarado vs. Marcos Maidana, Manny Pacquiao vs. Shawn Porter, Adrian Broner vs. Juan Manuel Marquez, and the list goes on and on.

So many fascinating fights could potentially happen, generating millions for the sport and giving meaning to the word, champion. As of today, there is talk of Manny Pacquiao fighting Marquez for their fifth altercation. A fight few would be interested in spending seventy dollars watching. Soon, hopefully, Oscar De La Hoya, can bring down the Berlin Wall that has devastated the sport of boxing and separated these two mega promotional companies; for the better of the sport, for the better of the fans, and for better of the fighters, “That’s what we must do.”

Oscar at this point of his life has shown sound judgement and rationality. In this most difficult situation of rivalries between GBP and TR, this man has shown a high degree of intelligence that dwarfs the minds of Schaefer, Floyd and the phantom Al haymon. ODL believes he can do it, and we believe he can transform the sport to the next level by breaking the berlin wall of “bitter and destructive rivalry” of the two companies. A modest and humble ODL will produce a strong impression in the boxing world.

Nah, I don’t believe it. As long as shaeffer is running Golden Boy Promotions, there won’t be a match between it and Top Rank fighters. He has categorically stated that he will NEVER work with Bob Arum. It says plenty about who really caused the cold war. shaeffer only wants to deal with those he can bully. why do you think he works mostly with this al haymon dude. i hope that al haymon lose all his fighters, or the fighters realize that hardballing promoters to get their big paydays does have it’s end.
