From the moment that the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Saul Alvarez was announced fans knew it was going to be huge. How huge?, you might ask. Forget event of the year this is going to be event of the century and it just got even bigger. In other words…”Shit just got real.”
Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions held a press conference this afternoon to announce a mega fight for “The One” which is going to take it to a whole new level. It was announced that 140 pound WBA/WBC champion Danny Garcia (26-0, 16 KO’s) will take on Lucas Matthysse (34-2, 32 KO’s) of Argentina which is guaranteed to be a war and even possibly steal the show action wise from the main event. “The one just got even bigger,” said Schaefer. “Floyd wanted to make the biggest Pay-per-view possible. We did not have to make this fight. The tickets are already sold out. We want to give a big thank you to the fans. This is the most expensive fight ever to get put on (as a co-main event) on pay-per-view. This is one of the most anticipated fights in the sport. It would have been much easier to put this on a separate date and more lucrative for us as a promoter but this was done for the fans.”
Now that the fight is a reality fans can put their worries aside. Many circumstances have left fans in doubt that the fight would ever happen. The fact that they are both Al Haymon fighters was a big one (even though Haymon fighters have faced off in the past). Drug testing and money were also issues that could have prevented the fight.

The fight will have its own multi-city press press tour which will stop in New York City, Puerto Rico and Los Angeles. Tour dates will be announced next week.
