Philadelphia, PA—Peltz Boxing Promotions, of Philadelphia, and Gulfstream Co., LLC., of Jersey City, NJ, today announced the formal signing of junior middleweight Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna  to an exclusive promotional agreement.
“Young prospects like Thomas LaManna are the reason I’m still in this business, said J Russell Peltz, president of Peltz Boxing.  “LaManna is coming off the biggest win of his career and I’m looking forward to working with him and his dad, Vinny, and his trainer, Hassan Hamed-El.”
LaManna (right), 22, of Millville, NJ, is 14-0, 7 K0s.  A three-year pro, he scored a unanimous eight-round decision over Ahsandi Gibbs, of Tampa, FL, on April 12 at Bally’s Atlantic City.  It was LaManna’s first fight in more than six months and his first scheduled eight-rounder.
“I’m very happy signing with Peltz Boxing,” LaManna said.  “I was approached by Al Haymon to sign with him at the same time I was in talks with Peltz.  I was never sold on the Haymon name and I knew I would be worth more to Peltz.  I am 100% confident that Peltz and Vinny Ponte (of Gulfstream Co., LLC.) will get me to where I know I’m capable of getting to and that’s to a world title.”
A pro since 2011, LaManna has been a fixture on Atlantic City boxing cards, having fought there eight times.  He also has appeared in rings in Newark, NJ, Nutley, NJ, and in his Millville hometown.
“LaManna has good skills and punches in combination,” Peltz said.  “He may look like your next door neighbor, but he knows what he’s doing in there.  Once his body develops as he gets older, he’ll probably grow into a light-heavyweight.  He’s 6-foot-2 and he has quick hands and he brings a crowd with him.  It’s a perfect fit for both of us.”
A 2011 graduate of Millville High School, LaManna had 41 amateur fights. As a pro, he also has beatenYolexcy Leiva, of Cuba, and Joshua Snyder, of Berlin, MD.
