Thurman-Porter finally rescheduled for June 25th

Shawn Porter- Keith ThurmanThe eagerly awaited welterweight clash between Keith “One Time” Thurman and “Showtime” Shawn Porter has officially been rescheduled, now set for June 25th. The fight will televise on CBS via Showtime with the location still being determined. The news was first reported by Dan Rafael of ESPN who unleashed a series of breaking news tweets.

 

The pair were originally scheduled to meet March 12th at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut however Thurman had to pull out after suffering a minor neck injury during a car accident.

 

Porter, as a means of staying busy, will fight Lanardo Tyner in a twelve round exhibition bout to be broadcast live via Facebook stream. The exhibition will happen with headgear and 16oz gloves.

That all changed at 1pm EST time today when Showtime announced their massive Spring / Summer schedule which included a multitude of quality matches on top of the Thurman – Porter reschedule.

 

The original co-feature between Abner Mares vs Fernando Montiel has been upgraded, with WBA featherweight Jesus Cuellar defending his belt vs the aforementioned Mares.

 

Also included on the updated Showtime schedule is Charles Martin vs Anthony Joshua (April 9th), Badou Jack vs Lucian Bute (April 30th), Deontay Wilder vs Alexander Povetkin (TBD), Ruslan Provodnikov vs John Molina Jr. (June 11th), and Leo Santa Cruz vs Carl Frampton (late summer).
