Miguel Cruz-Anthony Abbruzzese Review

Miguel Cruz

Heavy handed prospect Miguel Cruz (11-0-0) from nearby Lake Mary, Fla. defeated Anthony Abbruzzese (4-4-0) with a spectacular left hook knockout 2:17 in the first round. This fight was clearly a showcase fight for young Cruz to look the goods in front of a hometown crowd, but he more than took care of business.

Antonio Russell-Eduardo Melendez Review

Antonio Russell Eduardo Melendez, The younger brother of WBC featherweight titleholder Gary Russell Jr, Antonio Russell (5-0-0) defeated Eduardo Melendez (5-18-0) via 3rd round knockout in a clear developmental fight due to the discrepancy in class.

Russell showed extremely fast hands hand throughout the fight dropping Melendez in the second round with a brilliant flurry. In the third round, Russell did show his lack of experience, losing a point after a deliberate low blow, being visibly frustrated from not being able to finish Melendez. After the a few minute break, Antonio Russell seemed to refocus earning a third round Knockout. The stoppage came at 1:31 into the third round by TKO.
