mike-reed-wins-620x330Junior Welterweight prospect Mike Reed (10-0 6 KO’s) has recently signed a promotional deal with Top Rank and is scheduled to have his first fight under the banner on October 4th in Atlantic City New Jersey.

Up until now, Mike Reed was a free agent who was not signed to a promoter, so naturally he was fighting on short notice most of the time and not being able to go through a full training camp.  However, since he now has a promoter, he will be receiving dates well ahead of time giving him applicable time to get ready for his fights.  Mike Reed recently stated in an interview with Tha Boxing Voice, “I’ve been in the gym since June 21st and right now, it’s time to grind.”

Reed has been sticking to a busy schedule this year and will be approaching his for his fifth fight of the year but has made it clear that he’s open to fighting once more after October before the year ends he says, “I would like to get one more in,  I would like to handle business stay safe and not get injured and get one more in after October.”

An opponent for Mike Reed on October 4th has not yet been named but Reed made it clear that it will most likely be another tough opponent. “Like I told you once before, we don’t want no ducks,” he said.

After only ten fights Mike Reed is ranked 27th in the country (USA).  That is impressive for a fighter with only ten fights, and it’s largely due to his level of opposition.

Reed is only 21 years of age and looks to be on the right track to achieving his goals in boxing by staying active and taking tuff fights.  He also looks to be a gym rat staying focused and not adding any extra things into his life that would distract him from his career.  He is a southpaw with good hand speed and it would be interesting to see how his career develops.
