Tureano Johnson Dream is to Unify The Division

Tureano JohnsonTureano Johson (19-1 13 KO’s) coming off a dominant unanimous decision win in the recent middleweight IBF title eliminator against Ireland’s Eamonn O’Kane. The win made Johnson the number one contender for the title held by GGG Gennady “GGG” Golovkin.

Hoopjab.com caught up with the newly crowned contender to discuss what would be a golden opportunity against one the hottest boxers in the game at the moment. Johnson spoke of the recent opposition opportunities saying,

“Where I stand right now being ranked at the top of all four major sanctioning bodies I think anyone out there with all the belts like Andy Lee, GGG I’m ready to fight all those guys, and I’m in running contention for all of them.”

With the shift in the dynamic of the middleweight division with GGG’s presence cascading the division, he now has a chance to unify all the belts in his division becoming the undisputed champion at middleweight.

Johnson has a chance to become that as well if he were to overcome the likes of GGG and Andy Lee or Billy Joe Saunders (whoever wins their December showdown). Which is by far no easy task for Johnson by any means but he spoke about his chance at achieving the big dream of almost any fighter.
“It’s a dream; that’s the pinnacle to make it to the undisputed point and, of course, that’s where I want to be. I just thank God for letting me showcase my talent tonight going twelve rounds, so yes unifying the world titles is what my dream is to do.”

Tureano Johnson will most likely wait it out to see what eventually takes place with Andy Lee vs. Billy Joe Saunders, because at the moment he has no power to force a fight with Gennady Golovkin. We all know being number 1 contender doesn’t guarantee you a fight with anyone in the boxing industry.

So his best bet is to get the winner of Lee Saunders. Johnson most likely will be the underdog in all these upcoming fights especially against GGG, but his rough and tumble brawler style will make him a game opponent for any of them. Johnson seems to have a granite chin to go with his fan friendly style, and it will surely be tested with the names aforementioned. Look for big things to come from Tureano Johnson
