Giovani Segura (30-3-1, 26 KO’s) seemed to be a bit on the decline after his two KO’s over Ivan Calderon when he lost to Brian Villoria and Edgar Sosa. Segura was able to break away from that skid when he faced Jonathan Gonzalez (13-1, 10 KO’s) on Saturday night in Puerto Rico when they fought for the WBO Latino Flyweight Title. Segura won via fourth round KO.

Gonzalez was able to execute his game plan in round one but in round two Segura was a man on a mission as he tested and dropped Gonzalez twice.

Gonzalez seemed to recover in the third round but at 2:25 of the fourth round he would be knocked to the floor yet again and this time he would not make it back to his feet.
For Segura the victory meant more than just another step forward in his career.

“This fight is dedicated to the memory of my manager Arturo Mota. Now I want to get the opportunity for a fight with (Juan Francisco) Estrada or a rematch with Edgar Sosa or Brian Viloria,” said Segura.
