Shawn PorterThe boxing public appears to be split on who will win the June 20th bout between Shawn Porter and Adrien Broner. The matchup is very interesting as it pits two of the most athletic fighters in the sport, not to mention two fighters with presumably high ceilings. That is why the fight is such a shock because both of these guys could’ve enjoyed the benefits of handpicked opponents over the remaining 2015 calendar. Instead, they will meet at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to determine who will continue their march toward commercial success.

Some are worried about the catch weight of 144lbs and the fact that Porter has to adhere to a 10lb maximum rehydration clause for the day of the fight. Porter believes that it won’t be anything that disrupts his ability to produce a winning effort.

“We’re going to do things the Porter way. You got concerns; I’ve got none. I know people are hearing through the grapevine the stipulations and things we’ve agreed to. We agreed to them because we know we could make all this happen. We’re not agreeing to things just because we want to fight this kid and make some money. We know we can make it an awesome fight for the public,” Porter told Thaboxingvoice.com.

Porter and Broner haven’t had any outside drama, but we are all aware of what Broner is capable of during pressers and weigh-ins. Porter doesn’t expect any drama, at least not until they step inside the ring on fight night.

“[Broner] is aware of things I’ve done in the amateurs, in some ways we came up together through the amateur program. So he’s very familiar with all of me, in and out of the ring. There is no animosity coming from me. I keep a level head and stay poised at all times. He’s walking into a lion’s den. You get in the ring with a lion, and you can only run for so long.”

Porter has to be favored in the fight, but that’s not to suggest that Broner is without a chance because he possesses high-level skills, some of which are greater when compared to Porters.
