On March 15th Deontay Wilder will be facing Malik Scott, with the bout likely to take place in Puerto Rico, probably on the Danny Garcia card. Deontay will be entering the ring with a 30-0 record, with all 30 win by KO, the 1st boxer to do that. Malik Scott will be coming into the bout with a 36-1-1 record with 13 KOs. Neither opponent has gotten a big time fight as of yet, but both are hoping that a win here will lead them to something bigger in the future.
I spoke with Wilder and while he was disappointed to not be in the fight for the vacated WBC heavyweight title. He hope that he will be able to get a shot at that title after we find out the winner of a Chris Arreola – Bermane Stiverne bout that is also likely to take place in March or April. Both Wilder and Scott are friends, but as Scott mentioned on his twitter on late Friday, early Saturday, “Its business”. Now that the fight is now official, the business is about to pick up.
