The Boxing Voice Wire Report
By: Stephen Tatarian
June 5, 2012

I will be kicking off fight week, and before I start boring you with my Pacquiao-Bradley views I will start off  with a little smack from Amir Khan and Danny Swift’s press conference. Also a future hall of famer retires, words from Tomas Adamek and more on today’s Wire Report.

Boxings beloved press conference is the pre-fight equivalent to a declaration of war.
Sometimes the lead up to a fight lacks interest especially when both combatants are chivalrous and not callous with there words. With Amir Khan (26-2, 18KOs) behind the podium though the arrogance of King Khan knows no limits. So hide your Mom and be careful what your Dad says especially if your Dad is your trainer. As is the case for Danny “Swift” Garcia (23-0, 14KO’s) who recently won the WBC lightweight title by beating Erik Morales. Garcia is set to face Khan on July 14 in Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada. Garcia is a respectful fighter not known for trash talking, his dad on the other hand, well that’s another story. Angel Garcia who is Swift’s father and trainer, may see it as part of Team Garcia’s strategy told the press conference in LA “Khan is an overrated fighter”. Khan wasted no time firing back at Garcia Sr. “Danny’s father does a lot of talking, but at the end of the day he is not the one who’s going to be in the ring.
When I beat your son am I still going to be overrated? We will see what happens.”
I smell a war brewing ladies and gentleman Waaaaaaarrrr!!!

After 19 years winning 5 world titles in three different weight classes the warrior known as “Sugar” Shane Mosley retires from the world of boxing. With a career record of 46-8-1, 39KO’s Mosley is sure to be inducted into boxings hall of fame. A true fighter who deserves to retire respectfully. Mosley retires never being knocked out, and this man has been in the ring with killers. Much respect to Shane,There should be a statue of him in front of the Staples Center and of the Golden Boy. If I recall correctly it was Shane Mosley that beat Oscar De la Hoya twice in that very arena.. The Irony.

Tomasz Adamek(45-2,28KO’s) believes it is his speed that will be the deciding factor in his bout against “Fast” Eddie Chambers at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on June 16th. This may be the last chance for the 35 year old Adamek to get a chance at a title shot. His last attempt was against Vitali Klitschko who dominated Adamek in Poland. Chambers also knows about losing to one of the dreaded Klitschko brother, since he also lost to one, when he lost by a 12rd KO against Wladimir Klitschko. All I know is when Adamek fights in the Prudential Center the Polska chants can be heard outside the building, and since Eddie Chambers is from Philly he will have his share of fans in the crowd. If there is any lack of energy in the ring the crowd my be able to reignite either fighter, this is gonna be a great fight to attend.

This week there are only two things on my to do list. First thing on the list is watch the movie Prometheus which is premiering on Thursday night, and second is seeing the Pacquiao-Bradley fight Saturday night. Here is a little fact about me, I love science fiction, and the only thing I love more then science fiction is boxing. Weird right?? Anyway after my dose of the space invaders I will prepare myself for what I believe will be an out of this world decision. I say this because if Timothy Bradley fights as well I believe he will, it will take an alien invasion for Bradley to win by decision.

That’s enough for tonight come back tomorrow for the latest news and gossip in the boxing world.
