Yvon Michel Confirms Negotiations For Stevenson-Kovalev
A fight between Adonis Stevenson and Sergey Kovalev is one of the, if not the most anticipated fight of this year and may be closer to reality than you would think.
In a recent statement by Yvon Michel, president of GYM Promotions, Stevenson has told him to make the fight and discussions have already begun.
“It is the will of Adonis to unify WBC and WBO titles and demonstrate without a doubt that he is the best boxing in the light heavyweight division,” said Michel. “He gave me the mandate to organize the fight this year and we have already begun discussions.”
GYM would love to showcase such a heavily awaited bout in Montreal but due to such a high demand for the event other cities such as Las Vegas and Toronto have shown interest in playing host to the bout.
“It’s obvious that that this fight will spark a lot of interest. It could even be the most anticipated fight on the international scene this year. HBO is doing everything in its power to bring us closer to the fight and to make sure an agreement is reached.”
In order for the unification to happen between the two power punchers they must first get past their next opponents in the upcoming months.
