Zab Judah - Manny PacquiaoFormer five-weight titleholder Zab Judah (42-9, 29 KO’s) really wants to get back into the ring. He showed that on Tuesday.

Too bad it didn’t count.

According to Greg Cohen, who is promoting a bout between Judah and Hevinson Herrera, both fighters got into a scuffle behind closed doors on Wednesday afternoon while filling out medical paperwork.

Herrera unexpectedly pulled out of the fight citing a jaw injury, perhaps the result of a punch from Judah, which has left Cohen jostling to find a new opponent.

Judah has an opponent in mind. It may not happen right away for this particular matchup, but how about former eight-weight titleholder Manny Pacquiao?

“I think I’d stop him,” Judah stated to FightHype following Floyd Mayweather’s unanimous decision victory over Andre Berto on Saturday.

“I don’t know what round. It’d be crazy. It’d be two left-handed [fighters], fast with dynamite power. That would be a sensational fight at 140 though.

Judah was asked if he always had a Pacquiao fight in the back of his mind.

“I always thought that for boxing. As a person, I like him. He’s a good person and stuff, but this is boxing. I think that makes a great matchup right there.”

This fight would have been an intriguing matchup about seven or eight years ago. The last time Zab was really himself was around 2006-2007 before he was stopped by an undefeated Miguel Cotto in 2007.

While he was able to rebound to become a world champion again with a TKO over Kaizer Mabuza and a close win over Lucas Matthysse just prior, he was knocked out by Amir Khan, and has gone on to lose two of his next three.

Judah, like many former stars, is living in a fantasy land where he still believes that he’s a top-class fighter, although he’s far from it.

Even a post-prime Pacquiao vs. a post-prime Judah wouldn’t last very long. I’ll take Pacquiao to ice Judah in two rounds in this one.
