Zanfer Promotions Releases Statement On The Passing Of Francisco Javier “Frankie” Leal

Francisco Javier “Frankie” Leal passed away on October 22nd due to injuries he suffered from his 8th round knockout loss to his friend Raul Hirales. Frankie was a warrior inside the ring and literally left his heart and soul in there.

Zanfer Promotions released a statement on October 22nd on Frankies passing and are in mourning with the rest of the boxing world.

“With deep regret to inform you that unfortunately the Mexicali fighter Francisco Javier ‘ Frankie ‘ Leal died Tuesday October 22nd in San Diego , California  after being treated for the injuries he suffered from last Saturday night’s fight in Cabo San Lucas where he was knocked out in the 8th round by Raul Hirales.

The 26 year old who was called “Little Soldier” for a good reason fought for more than three days for his life before losing the battle in an event that not only saddened his family , but the entire family of boxing in Mexico and the world.

As a company we, Zanfer Promotions try as humanly possible to safeguard the lives of Frankie and his family at all times. We will certainly continue to support them hereinafter after this sad incident.

Leal had a record of 20 career wins with eight defeats and three draws with 13 knockouts  which led him to be regarded at the time as one of the top prospects in Mexico and being recognized as a talented fighter and warrior with skills worthy of a national recognition .

‘It hurts a lot. We knew that Frankie Leal was a good kid , a great fighter , a warrior in and out of the ring. As a company with great responsibility we tried humanly to save his life and now we have been united by the grief felt by his family and boxing team and will try to help with whatever is needed ,’ said Fernando Beltran, president of Zanfer Promotions .

‘What happened hurt and with our prayers and solidarity we know that Leal was a fine young man who liked living well . Unfortunately this has happened and we could not do more to support the decisions of his family regarding the intent to safeguard their integrity and give them support. We will try our best to make them feel supported in this difficult time ,’ explained Beltran.
