Jhonny Gonzalez May Move Up In Weight Should Abner Mares Turn Down A Rematch

WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (55-8, 47 KO’s) could be making a move up in weight in search of big fights and big paydays should Abner Mares elect not to face Gonzalez in a rematch on a Golden Boy pay per view that may take place on December 14th in Las Vegas.

Mares lost via first round KO to Gonzalez back in August in one of the biggest upsets of the year as many have written Gonzalez off.

Should Gonzalez make the move, his trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain is in full support of his fighter. As for the opportunities that await him, there are plenty.
