Both will get a chance at redemption on Spike TV as part of Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions series.

But speaking of history, a fight that the fighters, fans, and analysts have been asking for over a decade, is finally happening. Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will finally get in the ring on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to decide who is the best fighter of the generation.

Josesito Lopez is one of the those exciting fighters, and he knows how it feels to be on top of the world; he stopped Victor Ortiz in the ninth round in 2012. But he also knows how it feels to be at the bottom. He was stopped in consecutive bouts at the hands of Saul Alvarez and Marcos Maidana. A man who loves action-packed fights, Lopez agrees with most of the boxing world. This fight has to happen!

“That fight has to happen. They’re going to make it happen no matter what it takes. Obviously there are situations that have prevented it from happening or being announced already,” said Lopez “It’s an exciting fight. I’m excited to see it as a boxing fan and who knows what can happen. I think it’s a fairly even fight, and I would give a slight advantage to Mayweather with his professional experience and ability to avoid with his great defense.”

When asked to clarify who he would bet money on, Lopez again said Mayweather.

“If I had to bet some money, I think I’d put my money on Mayweather.”
Then, Lopez was asked how it felt to be a part of the first card on Spike TV. As expected, Lopez was enlivened about the card and fairly optimistic for the future of boxing.

“I think it’s exciting. I think it’s great for boxing to have a great quality fight and athletes on cable TV on a Friday night. A lot of people are going to be tuning in, and I’m excited for it.”
