Koncz: Pacquiao will not return this year

Manny PacquiaoWhen Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said Manny Pacquiao could return before the end of 2015, it shouldn’t have surprised as many people as it did.

We reported last week that according to MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia, torn rotator cuff surgery can take three to six months, depending on the size of the tear and other factors.

If Pacquiao’s shoulder injury were supposedly healing faster than expected, it would make sense that the former eight-division world champion could theoretically return by the end of 2015.

However, we’ve seen how not allowing your shoulder to heal completely after surgery has done to a fighter, for example, Bernard Hopkins in his rematch with Chad Dawson in 2012.

Then you add in the people that don’t believe Pacquiao ever had a shoulder injury to begin with, and this is where Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz had to step in, speaking to Manila’s MB.com

“It’ll be next year, late February or March,” Koncz said. “We have actually sent videos of Manny’s activities to his doctors in the U.S.”

The more they talk about the shoulder injury, the worse it gets. Pacquiao was initially supposed to be out nine months to a year. Bob Arum comes out and says he could be ready by the end of the year, which is five months early.

Now, Koncz is saying February or March, which sounds more believable than what Arum stated, but the damage is already there.

The shoulder injury was an exaggeration from the beginning. There is absolutely no consistency in anything that’s being released. There is only one way Pacquiao can convince the people at this point: prove you had the shoulder injury.

There had to be a medical form filled out if the shoulder injury was legitimate, right? If that form exists, why haven’t they thought about releasing it to shut down the skeptics?

Does the form exist? The saga continues.
