Steve “The Dragon” Claggett was recently honored by the Calgary Herald as one of twenty people from the city to keep an eye on and with good reason. Claggett who was one of two athletes (Claggett is the only boxer on the list) made the list after winning the Canadian welterweight championship in September of last year.
For Claggett it was an honor to be recognized by newspaper and by the city where he was born and raised and he looks to make Calgary proud by defending his title and seeking out other titles.
“Next year, I could see myself fighting for a North American title,” said Claggett. “The year after that, a world title is what I’m after. They just put on big boxing shows in Macao and I’m half-Chinese so I’ve always wanted to go over there. That’s one thing I’m working toward … get my name out in the world. I love the Canadian title, but I’d like to reach as far as I can.”
