Thomas LaManna was on hand in Staten Island, New York yesterday at the Hilton Garden Inn to officially announce his next fight. The fight will be taking place on January 31st, against an opponent who has yet to be named. LaManna will be sharing the show, which is being promoted by Greg Cohen Promotions, with other local fighters like Dennis Sharpe, Denis Douglin, and Staten Island’s own Nicky Demarco. While Demarco is the headliner, the young LaManna is the co-feature bout.
With a record of 10-0 and six wins by way of knockout, “Cornflake” promised to bring a crowd with him, Staten Island not being far from his hometown of Nutley, NJ. Now fighting out of Millville, NJ, this will be only the second time in his career he is fighting outside of New Jersey, the first being a TKO victory in December of 2011 in Arkansas. With his loyal fan base in tow, LaManna promised to put on a stellar performance at the second annual fight at the Hilton.
Thomas also remarked at how proud he was to be a part of the ensemble of fighters with ring veterans like Dennis Sharpe, who’s career is entering its thirteenth year, as well as Denis Douglin, who Thomas knew as a friend coming up in the amateurs together.
With hopes to improve his record to 11-0, no matter who the opponent is, LaManna will be ready. Thomas also took the opportunity to thank his promoter Vincent M. Ponte of Gulf Stream promotions and his managers Vinny LaManna (his father) and Jim Cognetta of Dana Motor Sports in Staten Island, NY. He also added that this fight happens to be on the birthday of his Uncle Al, who passed away last year, and how proud he is to be fighting for him.
