West Point Battles Coast Guard Academy at Veterans Day Spectacular at Foxwoods

88The wait is almost over for the 22 boxers competing in the 2014 Veterans Day Boxing Spectacular presented by Columbia Dental on Saturday at Foxwoods Resort Casino. The patriotic event will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET with 11 bouts highlighting the show in honor of U.S. servicemen and women.

Ten athletes from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point will join teams from the nearby Coast Guard Academy and Westover Air Force Base in the unique boxing event. Two-time National Champion Taylor Tennyson (Virginia Beach, Va./Coast Guard Academy) will return to the Foxwoods for the first time since winning his first National Collegiate Boxing Association title in 2012. He hopes to lead his Coast Guard squad to several victories on the night.

The impressive group of athletes competing on Saturday night boasts more than just boxing skills. The athlete roster includes future engineers, military officers, foreign diplomats as well as an aspiring pediatric surgeon.
