aaoron_coleyColey Thumps Myers

Aaron “Heavy Metal” Coley, who celebrated his birthday the day prior, did what was needed against Loren Myers as he garnered a fifth round knockout. Coley showed improvement in this bout from prior fights as he worked more so on his footwork and working behind his jab which he thanked his coach, Eddie Croft for instilling in him for this fight. Coley started methodically pacing himself as he allowed Myers to come to him and would land shots within windows of wide punches Myers threw. As the fight grew in duration, Coley appeared to get stronger and Myers appeared more puzzled and confused as to what to do.

In the fifth round, Coley sent Myers to the canvas with a shot he was unable to recover from ending the bout. Coley afterwards expressed a desire to return to the ring “I average four fights a year, right now I am at two, I want to return in December.” Coley also believe that 2015 might be the year that a promoter takes a chance on him and he gets exposure especially now that he is fighting at a weight class that many feel better suits him, which is middleweight. This also happens to be a division that has two major players at the top of the division, Gennady Golovkin and Peter Quillin, with the need for new opposition don’t be surprised if you start to hear more about Aaron Coley soon.

Benitez gets 2nd win

Moises Benitez fought through an injury in the second round to produce a crowd pleasing endeavor for the fans and onlookers as he engaged in a crowd pleasing battle with Devonte Donaldson. Benitez who hit the deck in his first fight against Percy Peterson explained after the fight that he learned from the experience as he worked behind the jab finding more success this time aroudn. Donaldson who had his moments in the fight just couldn’t keep Benitez away from him and by the fourth round the fight was over as the doctor called a stop to the bout.

Casey Morton wins debut

Casey Morton made her long awaited debut as she took on Blanca Raymundo in the bloodiest bout of the night. Morton stayed on the inside for a good portion of the fight rolling with the punches and sending back hard shots to Raymundo who was game and continued to try and hammer away at Morton’s body. As the fight progressed, Morton became more relaxed as it appeared that if the fight had of progressed much longer Morton would of landed her patented right uppercut that seemed to be the punch she was looking to land at the tail end of the fight.

Morton won the bout with the scores being 39-37 across the board.

He Is The Real Deal

Rudy “The Real Deal” Macedo made a hell of a debut, rarely do I put fighters nicknames in write ups since I try to contextualize the fights and not let the surname cloud my vision that being said Macedo’s alias needs to be included. In a performance that was simply stunning, Macedo stole the show with fast feet, hands and showmanship. Macedo at one point walked around the ref when the fighters were instructed to break that engaged the crowd fully. Macedo furthered his debut by stopping Mario Aguirre in the second round with a left hook that folded Aguirre and left him unresponsive for a minute or so.

Macedo, a Nonito Donaire Sr. trained boxer is a fighter to be on the look out for over the next couple of years. Macedo incorporates speed, power and confidence in a way that you rarely see at any level let alone starting out in the pros.

Altamirano channels Margarito in Pro Debut

Eric Altamirano channelled his inner Antonio Margarito as he nearly exclusively targeted the body of Dara Ny as both fighters made their professional debut. In a competitive first round that Altamirano edged slightly it appeared he discovered something late in the round, Ny did not like the bodywork of Altamirano. In the second round, Altamirano got Ny to the ropes and the fight dramatically changed as Altamirano’s fast hands sent off combination punches to the solar plexus of Ny. Ny began moving and fidgeting still engaged, but avoiding the contact to regain focus as he retreated to a corner, this was enough for the ref to stop it.

It was a rare standing TKO, one that Ny’s corner was not happy about, but it appeared fair as it looked merciful as Altamirano was beginning to land at will. Altamirano’s punches were hard and made observers cringe as his attack seemed to focused on destroying the body.

Adams gets first career win

Brandon Adams defeated Will Walters on four days notice as the southpaw used faster hands and movement to frustrate the Sacramento native, Walters. Walters fighting in front of friends and family started strong coming forward and pressing the action, but began to find hard punches coming back at him and even worse, accurate shots. Adams was able to engage in spots and by the third round seemed to have figured out Walters timing who was now coming forward throwing hard leather, but having trouble setting up his big punches yet still landing a bit

in the second and third round. In the final frame, Adams appeared to drop Walters, but it was ruled a slip as Adams finished the show dominantly. In the end, Adams won 40-36 on all three cards as Adams who stepped in for Bilal Mahasin, who had to pull out of the fight on late notice, picked up his first career win.
