Lucas Matthysse vs John Molina2015 is well on its way to becoming one of the best years in boxing in recent times. World Class Boxing will finally be coming back to regular network television for the first time in decades. Finally, fans will be treated to Mayweather-Pacquiao along with many other great matches such as Canelo-Kirkland and Kovalev-Pascal. However as a fan, the fight I’m looking forward to the most is (aside from Mayweather-Pacquiao) Lucas Matthysse-Ruslan Provodnikov. On April 18th, these two power punchers will face off at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona New York. The bout will be televised live on HBO and is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions along with Artie Pelullo’s Banner Promotions.

Lucas Matthysse (36-3 34KO’s) is widely regarded by many fans and boxing media as the second best junior welterweight in the world. He holds wins over the likes of Lamont Peterson, John Molina Jr., Humberto Soto and DeMarcus Corley. Matthysse possesses power in both hands and fights in a pressure style. He is a skilled brawler that uses feints to set up some of his power punches and has good basic technique. He throws a great left hook and has an excellent right hand. He possesses one punch knockout power in both hands and can end the fight at any moment. He stands 5’6 ½ feet tall with a 69 inch reach.

Ruslan Provodnikov (24-3 17 KO’s) is widely regarded as one of the most exciting and entertaining fighters in the sport of boxing. He is a fan favorite and loves to brawl. However, his style is very basic, and he is not a dynamic fighter at all. He has what many boxing fans would call a “caveman style.” Also, he is not the most athletic fighter either, but he does possess respectable punching power, and he always steps into the ring determined to win and give it his all. His best wins are over the likes of Mike Alvarado, Jose Luis Castillo, and Emanuel Augustus. He stands at 5’6 inches tall and possesses a 66 inch reach.

This fight has fireworks written all over it since both fighters possess punching power in both hands and fight coming forward looking to land powers shots. April 18th will surely be an exciting night of boxing!
