When it was announced that ESPN “Friday Night Fights” would be replaced with Al Haymon’s time-buy “PBC” series people weren’t sure what we would get. How good will the fights be? What kind of stars will grace the airwaves in a competition capacity? Well, it’s becoming clear that Haymon isn’t dulling down his “PBC” brand to match the often times lackluster matchups presented on the average Friday on ESPN 2.

It has been announced that the second “PBC” on ESPN card is set and it will take place on August 1st at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, this according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com.

Although the site and date are set, the fights are not completely finalized as of yet, but Rafael offered up some interesting matchups that are likely to headline the second “PBC” on ESPN card.

According to Rafael in a story published only hours ago, Danny Garcia (30-0 17 KOs) is slated to headline the event with former welterweight and junior welterweight titleholder turned color-commentator Paulie Malignaggi. It isn’t clear whether or not Garcia, who is the lineal junior welterweight champion, will actually defend his title or instead opt to fight in his third straight non-title catch weight bout, but it seems as though Malignaggi as an opponent all but guarantees a fight over the 140lb junior welterweight weight limit.

Garcia is from Philadelphia and has competed at the Barclays before, while Malignaggi is from Brooklyn and is sure to draw a crowd.

The ESPN story goes on to mention Danny Jacobs as the likely candidate for the televised co-feature. Rumors about his opponent being either Sergio Mora (28-3-2, 9KOs) or Matthew Macklin (32-6, 21 KO) were also mentioned, but, like Garcia’s bout, nothing is finalized.
