AbelSanchezandGennadyGolovkin_big__b7b8cAbel Sanchez, taskmaster to WBA Super World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin(31-0, 28KO’s) recently spoke with Fighthype.com and gave his prediction as to if and when Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will face off against each other.

“I think it hasn’t happened right now, I think it happens in September. I still have Mayweather, closer than before, but I still have Mayweather winning.”

Mayweather’s last two appearances against the Argentine banger Marcos Maidana seemed to indicate a slight loss of mobility for the American star, leading many to reassess a fight that they would have seen as one-sided in Mayweather’s favour eighteen months or so ago.

Sanchez, who runs the The Summit Gym in Big Bear, California is currently using his eye for talent to guide a whole stable of promising fighters towards world titles, and listed a few of the pugs we should be looking out for in time to come.

“Right now we have a young man named Murat Gassiev(20-0, 14KO’s) he’s 21 years old, he’s probably the next big star coming out of my gym. We also have Nadjib Mohammedi(36-3, 22KO’s) who fights the winner of the Pascal-Kovalev fight, he’s the number one contender. We have Dennis Shafikov(35-1, 19KO’s) who is the number one contender also for Mickey Bey[IBF lightweight champion], I believe he fights him in June sometime. We have Joel Diaz(18-0, 14KO’s) who fights the 14th of March, Julius Jackson(19-0, 14KO’s) is in our gym…”

Quite a cast of prospective champions all under one roof as if it wasn’t enough to have the hardest-hitting middleweight of recent years there too.
