It has come to light that an agreement has happened between the camp of WBC Featherweight Champion Abner Mares (Golden Boy Promotions) and former two-division champion Jhonny Gonzalez (Promociones del Pueblo) for a showdown to take place on August 24th in either Carson, California or in Los Angeles.
Gonzalez lost the title that Mares currently holds to Daniel Ponce De Leon in September of last year. Mares won the title in an impressive show against Ponce De Leon on the Mayweather-Guerrero pay per view on May 4th this year.
