Amir Khan Danny GarciaAmir “King” Khan has spent the last two years chasing the two biggest fights possible for him, one against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the other against Manny Pacquiao. The chase for Mayweather ended when Mayweather selected Andre Berto as an opponent for what is supposed to be the last fight of Mayweather’s undefeated career which has prompted negotiations for a fight with Pacquiao. Negotiations for a Pacquiao fight did not go as smoothly or as quick as Khan had liked and he was ready to move on but decided to give Pacquiao one more week before moving on but who would be next on the list?

There are many options out there for Khan and other to Khan himself, no one can be sure as to who it will be but a former foe may be on the list of possible opponents.

In December of 2011, Khan had lost a split decision to Lamont Peterson, and then just seven months later he attempted to bounce back from that loss when he took on newly crowned junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia. Khan controlled a majority of the fight and appeared to be on his was to a stoppage when Garcia caught Khan with a hard shot to the side of the neck which sent Khan down. Khan was able to get up, but his legs were no longer there, and Garcia was able to finish Khan off.

Garcia recently entered the welterweight division with a tenth round stoppage of former two-time word champion Paulie Malignaggi, and when asked by ESPN, Khan entertained the idea of a rematch.

“Garcia would be an awesome fight. That fight would be something I would love to take, and we will be looking at that. There’s a lot of unfinished businesses,” stated Khan.

Khan’s current plans are to return to the ring sometime in January or February of 2016 and may even fight in the United Arab Emirates but as far as who will be standing across fro him in the ring, he and everyone else will have to wait and see.
