According to the Irish Daily Star, Andy Lee is forgoing his home title defense against his mandatory Billy Joe Saunders and instead taking a voluntary defense against Peter Quillin on April 11th in New York.
The bout would be set to air on NBC and be the co main event to a bout between Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson.
Lee beat Matt Korobov for the WBO World Middleweight Title after Quillin had vacated the bout. Quillin would have been set to make 1.4 million dollars but instead dropped the belt.
Now it seems the two are on a collision course on network television. According to the report, Lee will make 3 to 4 the amount he would have been making for fighting in Ireland.
Al Haymon and NBC continue to make a splash as it will follow up his march 8th doubleheader with another great set of match ups on April 11th with Garcia-Peterson, Lee-Quillin with The Barclays Center most likely being the venue.
