Floyd Mayweather vs Canelo was one of the biggest attractions in boxing this last decade. It was a fight that benefited both fighters but Canelo probably benefited the most from it.
Yes, Floyd went on to fight Pacquiao and McGregor and make a shit ton of money and put up amazing numbers but it was more of the same that we have seen over and over again. The man is gifted and if no one is able to figure out the puzzle why change?
Canelo was a come forward fighter more than anything prior to Floyd. Against Floyd, he was the bull that often missed the matador. Since that fight though Canelo has improved his style and career to make him the top draw in the sport.
“None of that would have happened though had he not of faced Mayweather. If Canelo never fought Floyd, he probably wouldn’t be the beast he is now. He learnt so much during the fight and through the promotion.”
That’s what Ashley Theophane believes and the man has a point. Floyd will always be a name that’s brought up with Canelo but it’s not a bad thing. You live and you learn and without ever being educated and humbled you may never reach your full potential.
