Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing presents the 16th installment of “The Rockin Fights” series from The Paramount in Huntington, NY, this Saturday, December 20th. The fights will be shown on a delayed basis over the MGS Network to be aired on January 11th at 9:00pm.
Headlining the card will be a grudge rematch between undefeated power punching Jr. Welterweight prospect Cletus “The Hebrew Hammer” Seldin, 14-0 11 KOs, Long Island, NY and Bayan “The Mongolian Mongoose” Jargal, 17-5-3, 11 KOs, Arlington, VA., in a bout for the vacant WBC International Silver Jr. Welterweight title.
These two warriors first met on July 18th at The Paramount, aired live as part of the ESPN “Friday Night Fight” series, and waged a high pitched battle that was prematurely stopped due to a severe eye injury by Jargal. The bout was ruled a No Contest after the 3rd round. Now with a WBC Int’l Silver belt on the line, both fighters are prepared for war as they meet in this highly anticipated rematch.
It also marks the debut of the MSG Network at The Paramount joining the likes of ESPN, Showtime, NBC Sports, and Azteca America as networks that have broadcast from what has become one of the most sought after venues for Boxing.
The success of Chris Algieri, who headlined numerous times at The Paramount has only increased the great attention to the venue as the breeding ground of Champions and a place to watch great fights, join a lively and exciting crowd and be part of the tradition of sold out thrilling events.
The co-feature will be The Paramount debut of Mastic Beach Light Heavyweight Joe “The Irish Bomber” Smith Jr., 16-1 13KO’s, taking on dangerous veteran Maxell Taylor, 18-9-1 8KO’s, Baltimore, MD, in an 8 round Light Heavyweight contest. Smith has laid a trail of his opponents knocking out 13 of his 16 wins and the former NY Golden Glove champ will also bring a huge throng of fans to The Paramount.
Taylor has fought numerous young prospects and in his last 5 fights his opponents have a combined record of an astonishing 76-3.
The remainder of the under card features local fighters Anthony Karperis, Constantin Bejenaru, Wendy Toussaint, Johnny Hernandez, and “Irish” Jack Grady.
Star Boxing chief Joe DeGuardia had this to say about the upcoming card “I am really looking forward to this show. As is our tradition, we have put together exciting, competitive fights and Saturday night will be another action packed night”.
