Years ago Mikey Garcia was one of Top Rank’s best and brightest stars. While fighting around 126 to 130 pounds he was being considered as a possible future opponent for future hall of famer Manny Pacquiao. Things did not work out though with Garcia and Top Rank and after a lengthy layoff and lawsuits Garcia was free of the promotional company which is based in Nevada.

After some time Pacquiao left Top Rank and there are a few fighters that have begun to fill the void but the standout fighter that seems to become the face of the company is undoubtedly Terrence Crawford.

Crawford was looked at as a rival for both Garcia and Pacquiao in the past. He cleared out the 140-pound division and moved up to 147 but the options for him are slim fighting in house at Top Rank. His next fight is set to take place against a non Top Rank fighter, Amir Khan.

Bob Arum who is the head of Top Rank took to social media recently to sell the fight between Crawford and Khan and did so while taking shots at his former fighter Garcia for his recent performance against Errol Spence.

“Unlike Mikey Garcia, Amir Khan goes into a fight intending to win,” said Arum via Twitter. “His boxing ability, which is phenomenal, could give Terence Crawford fits. He is capable of pulling the upset.”

One thing about Khan that you have to watch out for is his speed. His speed kills and he has carried it well with him in weight but his chin is always called into question. It’s something Arum had not mentioned along with the fact that in Khan’s last two fights he fought and destroyed a fighter that shouldn’t have even stepped foot in the ring with him in Phil Lo Greco and the fact that he was laid out by Samuel Vargas whom many consider a low B to C level fighter. So while he slams Garcia, he tries to shovel shit down our throats.
