“Heart and balls, we’re going to fight the same way we’ve always fought. Robert’s job is to get me ready and my job is to carry out the game plan. Robert’s going to get me 100% ready and I’ll be ready to come out 100 percent ready,” explained Brandon Rios in a video interview with us here at ThaBoxingvoice.com.

As media and fans alike, we wouldn’t expect anything different from the all action slugger who has already been in multiple fight of the year candidates in his career. Rios was on par to get a big fight with either Juan Manuel Marquez or Manny Pacquiao after he defeated Mike Alvarado in what was ThaBoxingVoice.com’s 2012 fight of the year. After Marquez stunned the world by knocking out Pacquiao with one punch, Pacquiao took time off and Marquez did the same until he eventually decided to fight Timothy Bradley this October. Rios in the interim didn’t want to wait and re-matched Alvarado and lost a decision in another entertaining fight. Rios felt he lost his chances at a super fight that night. So when the call came to fight Manny Pacquiao in November, Rios was excited for his chance and knows what’s at stake.

“This is what I’ve been working all my life for. I want that next level, that’s why I work hard in the gym every day. I don’t go to the gym like oh, I got to work out. I go, like it’s time to work. It’s my job. I love my job and love what I do. I’m always happy when I’m in the gym. Victory means a lot, I’m like a leech. I tasted it; I want to be on top of the world. I want that fame; I want what he has, seeing different parts of the world, that’s what’s at stake.”

Rios has mentioned on multiple occasions that he’s not sure what Pacquiao has left and that doesn’t concern him. What concerns him is that he be prepared to do what he wants, and that’s to finish off Manny Pacquiao.

“I got to retire him because I want to be the next superstar. I’m not Manny Pacquiao, I don’t know if he’s ready, but my job is not to worry about him, it’s to worry about me and I’ll be prepared. He’s going to train there so it won’t affect me. I was over there and after two days I was accustomed to the time zone so it’s no big deal, we’ll be ready,” explained Rios.

Although Rios wouldn’t go into detail as to what he could do well against Pacquiao, one thing’s for sure, he will attack the body like his friend Antonio Margarito did against Manny Pacquiao.

“Tony Margarito actually hurt Pacquiao with the body shot. Margarito’s my boy, I love him. He had to come down in weight for that fight, now it’s my turn for me to come up. If they consider me Margarito, then great I rather be Margarito, whether it’s negative or not.”
