CharlamagneAs part of the ongoing events and festivities leading up to the Shawn Porter-Keith Thurman showdown on June 25th, live on CBS, the Gleason’s Gym will play host to a special Shawn Porter workout involving two of the boxing word’s most recognized radio hosts. Before Porter meets Thurman, he will step in the ring with the co-host of “The Breakfast Club,” Charlamagne Tha God of 105.1 and Nestor Gibbs, host of Thaboxingvoice Radio Show, a live internet radio show and podcast available throughout several platforms including but not limited to iTunes, YouTube, and Blogtalk.

With the Porter-Thurman card taking place at the Barclays Center in New York, it is safe to say that the “Big Apple” is influencing the event with its rich and illustrious history in the sport of boxing. For this reason, it makes perfect sense for Porter to host a couple of celebrity sparring sessions with two of the east coast’s most prominent radio hosts at Gleason’s Gym (77 Front St, Brooklyn, NY 11201). These two radio personalities will undoubtedly be covering the lead up to this welterweight showdown. Now, they will get the chance to see Porter’s skills up-close and personal.

The sparring sessions will take place Wednesday, May 10th at a time to be announced. The event will be free and open to the public. However, space is limited to capacity. For those unable to attend, TBV will be broadcasting live from the event in full force with high-level production and quality direction. We will give fans and in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the event as we broadcast live on Periscope. The entire crew will be set and ready to capture every aspect of the event to make sure you don’t miss a single occurrence.

There are no announced appearances for Porter or Thurman on “The Breakfast Club” show, but Shawn and his father/trainer Ken will have a weekly platform on TBV’s show to discuss training camp as well as the daily happenings from inside the gym.

For those unaware of Gibbs recent fitness journey, the radio host/videographer from New Jersey with a Dominican background has gone through a tremendous physical transformation. In just over half a year, Gibbs, who weighed 278lbs at the start of his weight loss journey, has managed to shed nearly 60lbs, which is still well over Porter’s normal walk around weight.

Although this sparring session will be strictly entertainment, it will be interesting to see Porter against the 6’5” radio host weighing in at roughly 220lbs. Those that believe in the sweet science will unquestionably favor Porter’s knowledge and athleticism. However, for all of us regular folk that attempt to make fitness an important aspect of our weekly lives, we will be rooting on Nestor as he attempts to not pass out or throw up after a few rounds in the books.

Stay tuned to TBV for more info and coverage.

Tickets are available now for Porter-Thurman on Saturday, June 25th.
