Trouble in paradise for Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and the WBC. According to boxingscene.com Canelo and his team have never wanted the WBC to be involved with his fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and have now rejected the WBC Cinco de Mayo belt that was on the line.
He also cites the Gennady Golovkin situation in which he vacated the WBC belt as another reason for his contempt for the WBC. He doubled down on this by saying he will not fight for the WBC belt if/when he fights GGG.
Is this falling out between Canelo Alvarez and the WBC going to damage either or’s brand?
