“King” Carlos Molina has had his share of trials and tribulations that would have made most athletes give up and move on from their career as an athlete. He has been atop of the mountain and at the bottom of a hole so big that when you look up you can’t even see light but it’s not like that’s anything new to him.

In 2011 Molina took on the highly avoided Erislandy Lara and ended up with a bad decision.  It wasn’t a loss but it was a fight he had won but bad judges had taken it away from him. One year later Molina had some more bad luck in his fight against James Kirkland after suffering a knockdown towards the end of the tenth round which literally came at the final second of the round. Molina’s corner stepped into the ring to take care of their fighter between rounds and Molina was then disqualified. Three fights later that luck would turn around as Molina realized his dream and dug himself out of a hole from being written off, being the underdog, and not getting the benefit of the doubt to become a world champion when he won the 154 lb title from Ishe Smith.

Since the Smith fight, Molina had his share of ups and downs but as Mexicans say “no hay mal que por bien no venga (there’s no bad from which something good doesn’t come).”

Molina has overcome deportation, little to no opportunities to fight at the beginning of resuming residency in Mexico to now being ranked within the top ten of the WBC’s middleweight rankings. The road to something bigger has been long and hard but determination and the will to move forward keeps Molina on track to regaining his previous glory.

“I have been steadily digging myself out of this hole that I’ve been in for some years now in my boxing career,” stated Molina via social media. “I have stayed patient and determined, taking it one fight at a time. I can now see and feel that world title or that big fight that will give me my hard earned title shot. I have faith in God’s perfect timing and whenever that is I will be more than ready.”
