Women’s boxing pound for pound queen and undisputed welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus of Norway by way of Columbia has made news today by announcing that she is no longer working with Sauerland Promotions and will now be working with K2 promotions according to FightNews.com .
Cecilia Braekhus is thrilled with having the opportunity to work with the Klitschko’s and to hold events in Norway which until recently has banned boxing since January of 1982.
“I am proud and honored to be teaming up with Wladimir Klitschko’s management and IMG,” said Braekus. “This partnership will take my career to an even higher level. Together we will create even more historic boxing moments both in Norway, for the first time in 33 years and internationally. Working with the best within boxing [in the world], sport and media was an opportunity I simply could not say no to.”
Wladimir Klitschko is happy to be working with Braekhus. He praised her dedication to the sport and mentioned that she as more titles than he does and guarantees that she will get even more.
“It is great that Cecilia and I are now partners, said Klitschko. She has been for many years now the dominant figure in women’s boxing. Cecilia is a great athlete [and is] very dedicated to the sport, and she even has more titles than me but…I promise to her that I will work on that.”
