The fight that takes place this Saturday between Chris Arreola and Bermane Stiverne is finally happening (knock on wood). The fight was originally slated for January 26th as the co-main event of the also unsuccessfully attempted Andre Ward-Kelly Pavlik card which was canceled due to a Ward injury. From there the fight was moved to March 9th, which was on the undercard of Bernard Hopkins-Tavoris Cloud. Unfortunately, Chris Arreola had to pull out of the fight due to a battle with bronchitis. That leads us to this Saturday, no more postponements or excuses. Time to throw down!

Bermane Stiverne (22-1-1, 20 KOs) has been ripping apart the heavyweight division as of late. He hasn’t had a loss recorded since 2007 and had some choice words for Arreola at the weigh in.

“A few days away from the fight. I don’t really have much to say except if anyone cut me with a knife to see what’s inside of me they would see that I’m not here to knock Chris out. I am here to chop his head off. That’s what we do where I came from. You don’t break my will. I can’t wait for Saturday night. This is serious. Before you beat me or knock me out you will have to kill me. Your people can talk for you but they can’t fight for you,” Stiverne said.

The big man Chris Arreola (35-2, 30KOs) is on a seven fight winning streak since his last loss to Tomasz Adamek back in 2010. The fight Saturday is a WBC eliminator bout. Arreola has already faced off against WBC champ Vitali Klitchko, he lost a grueling fight. The heavy hearted Arreola cried in his post-fight interview, not because of pain but because he felt that he let everyone down. So as you can imagine Arreola would love to get a second shot at Vitali, a second shot at the WBC championship, and shot at redemption.

Arreola fired back at Stiverne at the presser saying “In case you didn’t know, I’m a crazy guy. I like that you want to come cut my head off. That’s what boxing is about. This is a fight. You telling me you’re going to chop my head off puts a fire in my belly. I’m going to f*** you up. I’m going to box circles around you. I have no bad feeling for you, but I am going to knock you out. I want both of us to come home to our families, although you may go home a little sad and dejected. I’ll send you a fruit basket,” Arreola said.

Be sure to tune in to this brawl. I can almost guarantee you that this one won’t go to the scorecards. It will be a blast while it lasts. As always don’t forget to follow us on twitter @ThaBoxingvoice and me @lucasbiggers213.
