Thompson Boxing shares insight into Danny Roman’s upcoming fight.

What’s your take on your opponent Ramiro Robles (12-4-1, 6 KOs)…

“He’s coming from Mexico so right off the bat; I know that he’s going to come to fight. He might not have the most talent in the world, but I know he won’t back down, and he’ll be ready to brawl if he has to. He’s also a lefty, so it’s going to be tricky at first.”

What’s the most difficult aspect of fighting a southpaw…

“It’s a little awkward at first trying to find your distance, but overall I don’t think it’s that hard. The main focus is watching out for the head butts and punches coming from the left hand.”

On defending your NABA 122-pound title for the second time…

“I feel confident about defending my title. It’s an honor to wear the belt. I want more like them. Of course, my ultimate goal is to win a world title.”

Who would you want to face among the current world titleholders at junior featherweight…

“It doesn’t matter to me. Whoever gives me the chance to fight them first, I’ll fight them. I’m not picky. The most important thing is being ready for anything because this is the year we can make a jump to better competition. I know I have what it takes to fight the best. I just keep training hard and never lose focus.”

Was your training camp any different preparing for a southpaw…

“We’re always training hard. We made some strategy adjustments here and there to prepare for a lefty. I got excellent sparring with Isaac Zarate, who’s a southpaw. We would go ten and twelve rounds. It was a great training camp. I’m ready to defend my title Friday night.”

In the 6-round co-feature, undefeated heavyweight and knockout sensation LaRon Mitchell (10-0, 10 KOs) of San Francisco brings his powerful brand of boxing to Juan Manuel Dominguez (6-4, 4 KOs) of Mexico.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. PT with the first fight starting at 7:45 p.m. PT. The Doubletree Hotel is located at 222 N. Vineyard Ave., Ontario, CA 91764 and can be reached at 909-937-0900.
