Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has his heart set on taking the boxing pay per views around Mexican holidays Cinco de Mayo and Mexican Independence Day away from Floyd Mayweather Jr. and having Mexican fighters headline those cards but he may have to wait at least for the May pay per view.
From the amount of talk that is going around about Mayweather possibly facing Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd Alvarez may have to fight on a different date.
Oscar De La Hoya has stated via Twitter that if Mayweather – Pacquiao does indeed happen in May then he would indeed move Alvarez’ fight date which isn’t a bad idea with team Cotto stating they would be looking for a possible June date to fight Alvarez.
